Ya'llo Kittens!
While I was born here in America, my family is from Luzon. At home, they mostly spoke English, add to that the fact that I started my schooling in America. It's no wonder that my first language was English.
When I was still young, I did learn Tagalog. I learned the language because we were going to move to Makati, which we did, but my Tagalog was not that good even after living there. I didn't really speak with my classmates in school, but I did love to study. I just didn't love going to school in Makati. Later we would move to Ternate, Cavite, but I still kept to myself. I heard by classmates say I was stuck up or that I was more American than Filipina. Despite that, I really did love Ternate. Ternate was so beautiful with a lot of forest, rice patties, and a clean river running through it.
Before I was to go to highschool, we would move again. It was time to return to America. When we were in America Ya-pa and Ya-ma thought it was best to homeschool Ya-nee and myself. So, I never got a traditional high school experience either in America or in the Philippines. Now, I am definitely much better at English than I am at Tagalog, but I love the Philippines and I am proud to be Filipina, but I am also American. Living among one culture and be part of another, or more than one can be pretty challenging, and it sure has not been easy for me. I am Philam though! I think that makes me pretty unique.
Anyway, thank you for reading. All of that was to say, I have added a new language to this blog, Tagalog. I plan on treating it much better than the Japanese version and might even write my stream recaps in Tagalog and English. If you want to see what this page looks like (minus this paragraph) in Tagalog, click the little language symbol in the bottom left corner and select "Tagalog (Filipino)"!
